Island Tours

Kota Kinabalu and Semporna

Mantanani Island Day Trip

A truly tropical Utopia and only an hour drive from Kota Kinabalu city, Mantanani island shimmers northwest of Kota Belud. It takes an estimated of 60 minutes boat ride from the mainland to the oasis for snorkeling, scuba-diving or just a simple luxury of island naps.

Since Mantanani is a gathering of three confined islands, island hopping is another favorite to-do activity there. Dugong or sea cows are said to have been sighted here. These mammals are exceptionally timid and will separate themselves particularly with the sight of swarms. The dugongs’ populace is on the endangered animal list, so you must be greatly fortunate to see one!

Pulau Tiga Day Trip

Pulau Tiga was formed by volcanic eruption and the name is inspired by the three undulating humps visible from a distance when approaching the island. The Pulau Tiga Park sits poised north of Kuala Penyu, covering an area of 158 square km and was gazetted as a National Park in 1978.

Sabah Parks maintains a number of trails through the forest, one of them leading to the intriguing mud “volcanoes”, where mineral-rich mud and gas slowly bubble up from deep underground. The island is also known for its shy megapodes, chicken-sized birds which lay their eggs in the sand and leave the sun to incubate them!

Manukan and Sapi Island Day Trip

Manukan Island and Sapi Island are two of the 5 islands clustered together to form the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP). They are the most preferred islands for island any twin island hopping activity.

Manukan Island, shaped like a boomerang or some said a dolphin, is the 2nd largest island (51 acre) of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park (TARP). The accommodation available here is the Manukan Island Resort. The island boasts a pristine rainforest and long stretch of beautiful white sandy beaches, surrounded by protected coral reefs. Engage in nature trail trekking to Sunset Point which take about 45 minutes return. You may purchase sea-sport activities from the sales counter found in the island.

Sapi Island is shaped like a star, smaller than Manukan, but is the 2nd most developed and popular island of the Tunku Abdul Marine Park (TARP). Voted as one of the best snorkeling spots among the TARP islands, there are many colourful fishes and corals that you can find here.

Pulau Mengalum Day Trip

Mengalum, a true hidden gem boasting powder-white sand that slopes gently into a stunning shade of turquoise. The beauty doesn’t end at the limits of land. Put on your mask and fins to experience the shallow water splendors of the island. You don’t have to go deep to get acquainted with the underwater critters here.

Mengalum is also known to be abundant in groupers, snappers, mackerels and other reef fishes. With a majority of hard corals, like, stag horn corals, lettuce coral, table corals. Clown fishes, butterfly fishes and cleaner fishes and butterfly fishes can often be spotted swimming around the flourishing corals, which are big, intact and in good condition.

BoheyDulang Pearl Island

This overnight tour is in Semporna, which requires a flight from KKIA (Kota Kinabalu International Airport) to Tawau Airport.

Bohey Dulang Island is a mountainous island formed from volcanic rocks. It is separated from Bodgaya Island, the biggest island in TunSakaran Marine Park, by a shallow channel.

The crater is now flooded with seawater to form a large, majestic lagoon 25m deep. The southern side of the lagoon is open but just below the surface is a long stretch of reef which represents the southern crater rim.

BoheyDulang is best known for the breathtaking views at the top of its peak, bird watching, the Giant Clams and Marine Invertebrate Hatchery and its population of Sea Gypsies, which are some of the most photographed around the marine park.

It is possible to walk round the island at low tide by following the narrow fringe of beach and mangrove, although in places this involves scrambling over rocks or through vegetation.
